rapid fire trigger click of doom

Mirror mirror on the wall, what's the most embarrassing thing of all? Well, today, I was trying to comment on this vignette that I really like on devArt. It's been ages since I've actually commented on any piece, but I really liked this one, and perfectly constructed my comment, hitting on all the things I really liked about it. However, I was posting this in my sister's room, and her computer's mouse is really spazzy. When I hit reply, mouse, since it's sensitive as all hell, managed to hit it three (or four) times in the span of a single second, resulting in this monstrosity. Gahh, I'm so embarrassed! I haven't done anything so noobish in ages, really! That's what I get for being impatient and using my sister's computer instead of just waiting for my own to start up, though...

But! If there's a plus side to any of this, it's that it's given me the urge to write! Okay, okay, I always have the urge to write, I'm just too lazy to do anything about it, but there can never be enough inspiration, am I right? I just recently woke up... (god, it's like three in the afternoon right now, too) but I've decided that I've got to try and get in my four daily things today: read, write, blog, and exercise! I also have to charge my iPod so that when I get on the treadmill, I can have something to watch... I also have to find a spare notebook I can use to track my exercising progress, my weight, etc. Maybe it's just my OCD, but I love making sure things are recorded in some space, else I forget about all the progress I've made...

I said I'm going to start writing today, but the question is: what? I joined [community profile] storycubes yesterday and asked for a cube, but I haven't gotten it yet, so I'll just peruse the deviantArt groups for some prompts instead. There is a master list of writing journals and groups that you should check out if you're on deviantArt and want to get involved in the Lit community (because believe me, it's huge) but here are some of the communities that I've checked out and personally recommend. Again, I haven't joined them yet, but I will later today! ... Promise!

Guild of Deviousness Strong community, and frequently updates their prompts. They aren't all writers in this group, but they all act as a huge family. If you're new around deviantArt in general, joining GoD would be a good place to start!

The Written Revolution A group of strong writers. If you're someone who submits writing to loads of other groups, however, they're less likely to accept your piece. They also seem to have some vendetta against fantasy. (There are other great fantasy comms. down below, however!) They're big on quality of quantity and are extremely active!

The Novelist Club Are you someone who likes to write chaptered works, and are frustrated when few read/comment on them? The Novelist Club welcomes those who write longer works of fiction, and is definitely a great place to show off your longer works! The community is also very active, and is run by one of devArt's senior members.

Writer's Club Another solid writing group, nothing too special about it, but it's active, and even allows fanfiction, interestingly enough. They also will critique your work if you submit them to a specific folder. There's a contest going on right now, where you can even win a devArt subscription for up to three months! The deadline is October 31st.

Scribbler's Anonymous
A huge writing group with an extremely active community. There's also another contest going on where you can win a subscription for up to six months! The deadline for that is November 30th. They also accept fanfiction as well!

Live-Love-Write Another huge community with a solid member base. They update their prompts on a timely basis, and except almost all work, even fanfiction. They also have Literature Workshops, if you're the sort who wants to improve their writing (and hell, who doesn't want to do that?).

Literary Visions
Interesting prompts, exceptional critiques, and another huge member base. There's a cap of how many pieces you can submit there per day (I believe you cannot submit more than four a day) but hell, that shouldn't be much of a problem. They're a very dedicated and active group.

Inspiring Words This group probably has the largest amount of prompts given out of all the other groups previously mentioned. They use words, photos, quotes, and music to peak your inspiration, so if you're ever feeling deflated, this group is definitely one to go to if your muse needs a bit of a boost. They also hold contests and give critiques!

Fantasy Authors Guild: For fantasy writers! Obviously, they only accept fantasy pieces. Their prompts are also updated on a timely basis, and the community is strong and active! They're also having a writing contest where you can win a three month dA subscription (deadline is November 10th) which should give you incentive to join!

X-Pose It: Not solely for writers, but for Deviants in general that are under the radar and need some attention! While they have photographers and artists as well, they pay the same amount of attention to writers, which is rare in dA groups.

Honorable Mentions
: Word Smiths, Literary Perceptions, Fantasy Literature and Realm of Fantasy.

You might also want to check out Literature Contests That Pay!! for a list of places on deviantArt and off that offer cash prizes! (If they're on deviantArt, they'd probably just offer subscriptions, but hell, that's still a fantastic prize!
Bah, I rambled so much, and I still have more to say! But my grumpy mother just woke up, so I better get going. (Sheesh, she's slamming doors and everything, what's her problem...?) Wish me luck on my quadruple daily dares!
